A few of my favourite GPT sites have had some upgrades and new features added recently.

Cashle have got a completley new website and interface altogether. Although you can still switch from the Cashle to the P2S platform, the layout is different as the navigation. All your normal sections are now on tabs at the top of the site. You can view your stats, earn and spend cash, refer others etc. The site is running a little slow though compared to the last version but they are still working on it and to bring more features and more ways to earn money fast online with Cashle. Google Friend Connect

You may notice the Google Friend Connect toolbar at the bottom of this site. It was an impulse thing really. To be honest I've seen a drop in traffic since I moved over to my own domain. I think I lost a bit of Google Page Rank and Alexa Rank. As well as any juice from any backlinks I had on the previous blogger subdomain.

It was well over a year old. I think I might run an experiment and switch back to the subdomain for a bit and see what happens. I might try and flip this domain I'm using now or see if I can in the future. I know someone that does it. Turn a PR0 into a PR7 and sell it for thousands. Crazy.

Anyway I've got a few connects but I don't really use Google chat. I'm still an MSN veteran for IM. So this is an experiment and I'd love to hear any feedback about me using it. I want to make this site as social as possible so if it helps more people to connect I guess it's a good thing.

You can leave and reply to comments on the toolbar, share and invite your friends to connect. Browse members and add them as friends. I've been visiting some of your blogs and I have to say I'm really greateful for having some of the followers I do.

How to promote yourself online

It doesn't stop here. There are more ways to promote yourself online and more sites you can use to do it with. Recently I have started dabbling with Hubpages to generate extra incoming traffic to my Mobile Phone Recycling Review site and this blog as well. I wrote a previous post on using Hubpages here. Hubpages are a great way to not only promote your site and gain traffic but you can gain signups for your programs right from the Hubpage itself.

Here are a couple of Hubpages I have made the past week that should inspire you.

I am still learning about Hubpages myself but it's been good so far so I shall endeavour.

BT Trade Space

In wanting to promote my mobile site. I came across a good site to use to do so. It's by BT (British Telecom) and is mainly for actual UK business owners to promote their business online. Although anyone can use it. So I created my own trading space Sell Your Mobile - BT Tradespace. It's too early to tell how effective it's going to be for me at the minute but I will keep adding blog posts to it and adding friends in the similar niche. Watch this space.

Gather

Gather is a place to meet people who share your interests. Talk about news and express yourself with writing, pictures and videos. And meet new people and make friends. I started my own Gather site for my Get More Swagbucks blog. Purely to generate some traffic to my blog and gain Swag Bucks referrals. I haven't really done much since creating it but I shall return to address it. If you do join up be sure to add yourself to that group.

Blogging Networks

Other than blogging directories there are also blogging networks that you can submit your blog to as well. The only thing is your blog will need to be approved by the network first so it needs to be a little established.

This blog itself is a member of some such blogging networks such as BlogCatalog, MyBlogLog, CMFAds, UKBlogDirectory, Adgetize & BlogCarnival. As well as some others but I can't remember what they are lol..

More (yes more) ways to promote yourself

Twitter. Pretty much everyone who wants to promote their blog or site or business online uses twitter. Depending on how many followers you have and how often you send tweets. Twitter can be good for generating targeted traffic to your site or blog.

Google & Yahoo groups

Thousands of people use Google groups everyday and I've been using Google groups for ages to send emails to the posting groups. But the most effective way to use them is to go onto each group and manually start a new page. People are lazy and not many people use this method of posting to Google groups. There are many money making groups on google that you can post too. What you should do is create an HTML page and save it to your computer. Then go onto Google groups and start a new page. (new page not new post) and then copy that page into the post. Write the title and submit it. Job done. Then repeat that process on all the groups. As you keep doing it, more and more people will see your page and visit your site through it.

The same applies for the Yahoo groups as well really. You can start your own group and post to it and send out invites and join other groups and post in those as well. It takes time but it can work out in the long run.

As a blogger you will want to generate incoming links (backlinks) to your blog. Using blogging directories is a great way to do this. By using blogging directories you submit your blogs into what is a ranking system with the most popular blogs going to the top of the list. If you look at the bottom of this blog you'll see all the 80 x 15 mini banners that link to the various blogging directories that this blog is submitted to.

I have managed to generate a fair bit of traffic using blogging directories and still continue to do so now. Here is a list of the blogging directories you should add your blog to and then add the mini banner to your site somewhere.

They are some of the many blogging directories that you can submit your blog to to get a little extra traffic and build up backlinks with.

Video sites such as Youtube can be an absolute God send for getting traffic to your site or blog. Many people use video sites to submit videos on many many things and for many reasons. Mostly they are purely for fun but there are a lot of people who use them to get traffic and visitors to their sites. The good thing about it is once people have watched your video and then head to your site they are already going to know what your site is about so it can actually get you what is known as targeted traffic.

Once you have made your amazing promo video the first site you should submit it to is Youtube obviously. From there you should then submit it to all the other video sites as well. The more sites you submit it to, the more potential traffic you are going to get.

Social Networking Sites to Get Traffic From

As well as submitting your blog or websites posts/links to social bookmarking sites. You can also harness social networking (SNS) sites to gain traffic and readership. You can create groups on social bookmarking sites and have people join that group. You could create your own group for your site or blog as many companies do now to brand a name for yourself. One such site to do this on is Facebook. I myself run a number of groups/pages on Facebook. I have the Make Cash Fast group. Which is the group for my Make Cash Fast site. I have the Get More Swagbucks page. Which is the Facebook page for the Get More Swagbucks blog. (I love Swag Bucks). And I have a couple other Facebook groups as well that I run. All of which help me drive a little traffic to my sites and blogs.

The good thing about Facebook is that it's so easy to make friends on there. One way I did it was to add the Mafiawars and Mobwars application and ask people to add me from the fan pages and discussion pages on those groups. I had hundreds of people sending me friend invites all the time. Once you have done so you can then send out invites from your pages to those people and ask them to join your group/page. Not everyone will but if you have 5000 friends you can be sure that there are some people that will join. If not just for the sake of it! Of course once those people join they can then send out invites to their friends as well and so on and so on. This makes it viral advertising and gets you more members to your group/page which in turn means more traffic to your blog/site.

Another site to use is Myspace. Myspace has been around a little longer than Facebook but is not as busy as Facebook is but is and still can be very effective. You can start a Myspace profile page for your blog/site and search for people in the same niche as you and add them as friends. They will reciprocate and view your profile that you can fully customize and add content to it relevant to whatver niche you are working in. It can proove to be quite successful if you do it right. And it's still worth doing for the extra traffic and backlinks it will give you.

You can sign up these sites for free. Create your profile and go around adding friends. When people visit your profile that will give you a little extra exposure for your site or blog. Especially if you have branded your profile with the same logo as your site or blog uses. That way people will know what it's all about.

What sites to use promote yourself and get traffic

Over the past month or so I have been using social bookmarking sites more than I ever did before. This is because I am trying to promote my new website SellYourMobile. It's a Mobile Phone Recycling Review Site. I list and review the many various mobile phone recycling sites you can use right now to sell your old or unused mobile phones to for cash.

I have been submitting my posts to digg and other social bookmarking sites and have seen an interest in people clicking through from those bookmarks to my site.

Note: Don't only ever submit your own posts/sites to digg as this is seen as self promotion and oddly enough is frowned upon in the Digg community.

So if you haven't already. Get yourself a Digg account and set up your profile. Digg is more than just a social bookmarking site. It's a whole community of diggers who are selective about what they see on the Digg Homepage. Getting your link on the Digg homepage can get you tens of thousands of visits in a matter of hours. So I hope your server can support it!

Other social bookmarking sites any serious affiliate should use

Digg is a quality social bookmarking site but it's not the only one like it and there are others similar to it that you can use in another way. StumbleUpon is a social bookmarking site that's been around a little longer than Digg and it can generate you traffic in different ways.

StumbleUpon can generate you a lot of traffic at random times. When you start getting traffic from StumbleUpon it can last a matter of minutes or a matter of hours. There are many guides and tutorials online on how to get traffic with StumbleUpon. I will not cover them in this post but it's a social bookmarking site you should familarize yourself with and make friends on because it really can pull in tons of consistent traffic.

There are many other social bookmarking sites you can use to generate traffic with. Or simply use to post your blogs posts to, to gain a backlink for your site and the occasional visitor who will be browsing the category you've posted in.

Here is a list of social bookmarking sites for you to post all your posts to. I would suggest signing up to all of them and then bookmarking your profile link. This makes it easier for you to remember which ones you have signed up to when you want to use them and/or if you ever need to give out your profile link.

Promoting Your Website Online

If you are looking to promote yourself online. And by that I mean to promote your blog or site. You are going to need a little help. Thankfully that help is quite easy to come by when you know how to get it and how to use it.

You may be an affiliate like I am for a number of websites. I am actually an affiliate for Webgains and DGMPro. As well as a few others but they are the main ones I am using today because they actually work and I am actually making money with them. I will be doing a post soon on how to use them to make money online in any niche.

So lets set a scenario. (And bare with me because I am making this up as I go along) Let's say you signed up to CashCrate or Cashle. Or some other site you want to get referrals for and forward people onto it. As a complete ammature you are probably going to ask yourself how you can get referrals for these programs. Well the most obvious thing to do would be to start a blog!

Just like the blog here you can start your own blog and call it whatever you want. You have a number of choices when doing that as well. You can create a free blog like I did here. Or you can purchase your own site and hosting plan and run your blog from there. I chose the free option at first because after all it was my mission to make Real Free Money Online. And not spend a dime doing it. (I am a living testament that you can do that also).

Lets try and keep it simple

I'm going to keep it short and share with you a few ways and the sites you can use to market and promote yourself online with.

The first way of course is by starting a blog. As I said you can start a free one by either choosing Blogger or Wordpress.

You can start a blog on anything you like. And I mean anything. Blogging is an effective way to gain signups for your programs and make a brand name for yourself online.

Once you have a blog running. It's time to start posting! I would imagine once you've picked the niche you are going to be blogging about you would know how to write things about that niche. I am sure you have much to say about it and can add nice pictures to your posts. The good thing here about a blog is that the more unique content you add to it the more the search engines are going to deliver traffic to you.

When blogging there are things you will learn on the way. Like writing good keyword based posts. Using ALT tags in images. Making sure you have good META tags. Once you've mastered some SEO you can slowly work on building up backlinks and promoting your site in other ways.

Some of the way and sites I will show you, you will already know of. They include social bookmarking sites such as Digg and Stumbleupon. Social bookmarking sites that you should be a member of and have an account with so that you can submit all your posts to them and have other people do the same.

How to Promote Your Website Online

If you are anything like me you'll probably always be on the look out for new ways to promote yourself or your website online for more traffic. I would assume you already have a blog. Blogging is probably the best way you can actually promote yourself online. Next to article writing of course.

This very blog has been going for over a year now. I started it back in April of 2008. At first it was only to write about and to promote my use of a couple of GPT Survey sites I was using. Over time I started adding more posts about similar sites I was using. Back then though I never really knew much about SEO. In fact I thought the best way to get traffic was to use Traffic Exchanges! How wrong I was. Although even they can have their benefits if used properly.

Over time as this blog has gone on it has got busier and busier with more and more search engine traffic finding it on a daily basis. Back then I never really got any search engine traffic at all but now it fluctuates from 100+ to 500+ visitors a day from Google. I haven't really done much to promote it and haven't really been building up backlinks for it. I've just let the search engines bring in the traffic for me. In fact some of you may have seen the post I made. Fun with keyword searches. That shows how this blog is ranking in number one spots on Yahoo for make money online and make real free money etc etc.

So this blog should be a perfect example for anyone who wants to start their own MMO (Make Money Online) blog. It's true what they say. It takes time. If you continue to add content to it that people will find useful you will be able to build up a readership of returning subscribers.

I've learnt a lot about SEO since I first started blogging. I've learnt how to build up a readership and keep people coming back for more. I've learnt how to harness social media traffic. And I've learnt how to write effective blog posts that get people commenting. But I am always learning new things as time goes by.

One thing I have learnt over the past year or so is how to use other websites and services to promote your own site. I would like to share this knowledge with you because I feel it may be helpful to people. Amateur bloggers and the experienced alike.

I've joined a few new forums and started using the ones I was already a member of since having this blog. And I just registered with another one I found that is a nice place and looks good. The owners are quite serious and seem to know their stuff and are good to talk to. I think it's quite a new place but it has some potential. The surprising thing I found out about it is that you actually earn as you post as well. You get 4 YTT CASH for every new topic. For every reply, you will get 2 YTT CASH.
